Built by 2 former Facebook engineers in 2022, FreedAI is a modern solution to medical dictation and note taking. It offers a simple, web first interface to dictate and generate notes with natural language conversations. What makes it unique in this space are three main factors.
First, while dictation can be used to capture the patient encounter in a HIPAA compliant manner in Freed, the magic behind Freed is how well it uses a combination of audio and txt files to generate custom notes. A provider can use Freed to record a standard visit in the room, or add audio and text clips in advance (like at the start of the work day) to the visit note and Freed will process it all. Just upload or record everything you need, and Freed digests it and creates a usable SOAP note in the style of your choice.
Second, Freed is a flexible AI model and pipeline, built with a combination of specialized medical training data and state of the art models such as OpenAI. While templates are included out of the box for specialties and primary care, each provider has the power to tell FreedAI what it wants, and Freed will adapt its output accordingly. From formatting choices like bullet points, to common headers or macros, providers can naturally tell Freed what they want in their note (for example a new patient visit) and Freed will create the rules for it moving forward. You can even regenerate the same note with new rules if you are not happy with what Freed produced.
Lastly, Freed offers a free trial and a monthly pricing plan. Freed is confident providers will love what they built and offer an easy on ramp to get started. If there is one drawback to Freed it is that it likely will not work with your EHR out of the box. You will run it on your phone or Google Chrome and be responsible for bringing its outputs into the correct location (such as an EHR). Freed does however offer custom integrations and creative methods to easily take their outputs into other softwares, and offers email transfer out of the box.
While Freed is a great option, I do recommend also reviewing Heidi Health which is a competitor at a similar price point that may be preferable for your use case.
