Abridge uses AI with medical dictation to create patient notes that are optimized for Revenue Cycle Management (RCM). It does this not just through listening to encounters, but also through using an array of data such as patient location and insurance plan to create the perfect note for each encounter. Founded by a doctor in 2018 Abridge’s mission from day 1 has been to make the lives of doctors easier and improve performance through intelligent note taking.
In its newest AI product Abridge used a custom model trained on medical data in order to support predictive and assistive note taking which is optimized for RCM. It works directly with the EHR in order to help plan visits, justify decisions, and link encounters to billing codes.
While Abridge is well loved by its users and reports an implementation time in as little as 2 weeks, currently it advertises primarily to health systems. It integrates directly with Epic Haiku and is geared toward the RCM needs of health systems and their patients. Abridge is reportedly coming to Athena via Ambient Notes and is advertised as state of the art dictations and clinical support tool with an estimated cost of $199 a month. Upon contact with their sales team I was informed that they do work with mid-sized, outpatient practices and specialists so a demo may be needed to learn more about their non-health system use cases.
